Men Should Wear Clothes Too

So it wasn't until I hit "publish" on my last entry that I realized that I didn't take into consideration that there may be some men who will actually read my blog.  I'd at least like to think that I'm capable of reaching both parties so instead of writing off the male population right from the get go, I'm going to attempt to persuade the men out there that I have something to offer to them as well (go ahead. Get your scoffs out now and then do yourself a favor and keep reading).

Obviously the recommendations for workout wear were directed towards females because, well, that's what I know.  Although a lot of the recommendations (as far as the style of clothing) I suggested are gender neutral, I figured it was only fair to make some suggestions for the guys. In order to do so, I had to poll the men in my life: my husband (Jesse), my good friends (Nathan and Luke), and my dad.  I was pleased to find out their answers were, for the most part, consistent.

As far as shoes go, see my previous post. Everything I said is gender neutral.

The same goes for the importance of running shorts (they're even more important for men!), but I needed a man's opinion regarding fit. I talked to Nate (the one who runs the most out of the four) and found that his preferences were very similar to mine, except he wasn't nearly as picky about the waistband accenting his figure...sigh...tragedies of being female...anyways. Here's a summary:

-Shorter is more comfortable but if you can't be convinced, they make longer ones with a liner.
-Speaking of which, a DriFit liner! You guys may cringe at this, but we're serious!! Even if you're not running and just doing heavy cardio, this liner will save you. And since you're going to ask: No.  You DO NOT wear underwear with a liner. Go ahead and try it. Have fun...
-If he had to pick a brand, he voted Nike; however, he owns Under Armour and Reebok.  Basically, go for comfort.

Then there is your all around short.  Same with the girls, this is all about preference. If you're just lifting, almost all "workout shorts" are going to perform the same. Dad said he just "goes into Sports Authority and grabs Under Armour and Nike off the rack." Done. That IS the bonus of trusting a brand. I can go into Dick's, go to the Under Armour rack and know that Jesse will like them, more specifically, these.  I'm sure it's not a matter of time before we own them in every color. : ) Anyways, this is a place that you could go "budget friendly" since they're not really going to affect your performance either way.  Just go for what's light and comfortable.

Also, like the ladies, your top should be a personal preference-so long as it's what? Good job. Dri Fit (just means sweat wicking, remember?). You guys are catching on...this was the area that each man had a bit different response. Under Armour and Nike were the leaders, yet again. But I've also heard good things about Champion (very budget friendly) and Adidas.  Here was the general consensus:
-some preferred tanks across the board.
-others said T's when they're doing chest or anything that would require laying down on the bench due to the "nasty sharing sweat factor."
-the vote for which was best for cardio was tanks, 3:1.
-all agreed that tanks are nice for showing off the guns. Oh and for arm days, cause "it's nice to see what you're working" (but mainly, to show off the guns).

If you prefer a t-shirt:

If you prefer a tank:
A note about both of these suggestions: on the tag of ever Under Armour piece is a description on how the article fits.  They list items all the way from "Loose" to "Compression." TRY IT ON.  What is "fitted" on one may be "loose (or compression!)" on others.

Well, hopefully I got you started.  Feel free to ask any questions or suggestions of topics you'd like to see below!
