Since I've already gotten a slew of "I didn't even know you were having surgery" texts, I'm going to back up just a tad and I'll keep it short.
. . .So when I was 12. . .
Kidding. I'm actually not a very public person when it comes to my health, so many of you didn't even know I had endometriosis in the first place, let alone know what the actual disease is. Long of the short of it is, the cells that are supposed to grow on the inside of my uterus (yeah, feel free to stop reading now) grow on the outside...and not only on the outside of my uterus, but on any organs. The bummer of the situation is, endo isn't curable. It does what it wants, always comes back and even a tiny amount can cause horrible pain if it's in the wrong spot. My laparoscopy yesterday was simply to remove the lesions that were there and buy me some more time pain free. I had the same surgery done in 2006 and had really good results, so I'm hoping for the same out come. Actually, I'm hoping for an even better outcome this time around.
Besides removing mild endo yesterday, the Dr. also said that I had an extensive amount of scar tissue that had formed adhesions surrounding my organs-the adhesions had actually moved my intestines up and to the side-not exactly optimal . . . The good news is, now that he has removed the adhesions, it is not likely that they will come back, nor will any new ones form. I'm pretty sore and my throat is itchy and swollen from the breathing tube, but nothing that another day of rest won't fix.
Thanks so much to all of you who have helped with meals, my children and ect.-it's so nice to know how supported J and I are. I'm lucky to have modern medicine on my side and as much flaw as there is in our healthcare system, without Drs and procedures like I had yesterday, I'd be living in constant pain. Now is also my cue to thank my hubby. God has blessed me with such a fine man that works so hard and would do anything to take care of his family. Love you babe-oh and now that we've hit our family max, go get your knee fixed ; )
So there you go. Two surgeries in one week and we survived to tell the tale. Hopefully this is the last you'll hear of me and my health on here...I'd much rather write about baking, fashion, bows and things my children say. My most recent favorite (I'll let you guess which child): "Take me back outside. More spankings."
I'll leave you with that. Happy Friday.

Keeping you and your whole family in our prayers.
